What if an item gets damaged?
Renters accept a rental agreement and are responsible for damage. Owners can set a security deposit that is held at booking. If damage occurs, report it within the claim window and our team will mediate — reviewing evidence from both sides and making a fair determination.
What happens if a renter doesn't show up?
Owners can report a no-show after the grace period. Our team reviews the case and, where warranted, applies a strike to the renter's account. Security deposits provide an additional financial safeguard for owners.
How do I get paid as an owner?
Payouts are handled through Stripe. After connecting your bank account, earnings are deposited within 2–3 business days after a rental completes. You can track all payouts from your dashboard.
Is there a fee to use 12Borrow?
Renters pay a 10% service fee on top of the rental price. Listing is always free for owners and businesses. You keep what you earn.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellations made 48+ hours before the start date receive a full refund. Within 48 hours, the platform fee is non-refundable. We recommend messaging the owner directly if your plans change.
How are item reviews collected?
Item reviews are only collected from renters who have completed a verified rental — no anonymous feedback, no unverified ratings. This keeps reviews honest and useful for everyone browsing.
Can businesses list on 12Borrow?
Yes. Equipment rental companies, party supply shops, outdoor gear dealers, and other businesses are welcome on 12Borrow. A business account lets you manage multiple listings, build a rental history, and reach customers in your area who are already searching for what you carry.
How do disputes get resolved?
12Borrow mediates disputes reported within 24 hours of item return. We review evidence from both parties — photos, messages, booking details — and make a fair determination. Our goal is to protect both sides.
